Smith Elected to AMTDA Board

David C. Smith, CMTSE, of C.J. Smith Machinery Company in Fenton, Missouri, has been elected to the position of Secretary of the American Machine Tool Distributors' Association (AMTDA) national board for 2005-2006.

The election took place at the AMTDA's 8011 annual meeting in La Quinta, California in April.

Smith began his career as an industrial engineer with General Metal Products in 1981. He joined C. J. Smith Machinery in 1984 and became vice president in 1986.

Smith has served on the AMTDA board of directors from 2002 to 2004 and is currently active in the group's Leadership Forum program.

In addition to the AMTDA, Smith has been involved with several other industry groups including: the St. Louis chapter of the NTMA (National Tooling & Machining Association); SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers); Robotics International; and the Missouri Governor's Advisory Council.

Smith has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Lamar University. He and his wife, Mary, are the parents of two children.
The AMTDA represents independent distributors and worldwide builders of machine tools and related products used in the metalworking industry.

Founded in 1925, the group's mission is to provide marketers of manufacturing technology the services needed to develop and perpetuate distribution businesses that help North American manufacturing.
