Ultrasonic Proximity Sensors offer programmable operation

Offered in 12 and 18 mm cylindrical as well as 20 and 30 mm square body styles, sensors deliver non-contact proximity, position, and distance sensing for any sound reflecting substrate. Products offer teach-in capabilities as well as lock out feature to prevent unwanted output programming changes. With sensing distances from 10 mm to 2 m and resolutions from 0.3-0.5 mm, sensors offer user-programmable measuring range, analog output slope, and switching point.

Baumer Electric has introduced a new family of programmable, long range ultrasonic proximity sensors in 12mm and 18mm cylindrical and 20mm and 30mm square body styles. With sensing distances up to two meters, these sensors deliver highly precise non-contact proximity, position and distance sensing for any sound reflecting substrate including clear and opaque materials.

All sensors allow the user to program measuring range, analog output slope, and switching point, and feature internal and external teach-in capabilities. A lock out feature prevents unwanted output programming changes, while the cable quick disconnect offers easy wiring options. The miniature design of these sensors facilitates their use in size restricted applications. To ensure the detection of very small movements or changes, resolutions range from 0.3mm to 0.5mm. All sensors in the line are available with discreet (on/off) or analog outputs. Analog sensors feature reversible current or voltage outputs.
