New robotic prototyping technology

Kuka Robotics' CAMRob software, combined with a six-axis Kuka robot and a high speed spindle, is said to enable fast milling of complex prototypes, while eliminating pendant-based programming.

Users can mill five sides of large format workpieces in one setup or reach multiple part setups to increase throughput.

The software enables APT or G-code files to be downloaded, converted to Kuka's robot programming language (KRL) and executed. The company's six-axis robots range from 3-kg to 500-kg payloads, with a reach from 635 mm to 3,900 mm, all of which are controlled from a common PC-based controller platform
