Bell Microproducts (Nasdaq:BELM), has selected ASACA's TeraCart(R) DVD-RAM libraries to bring rewritable DVD technology to its line of high-end storage solutions. In addition to offering value-added ASACA DVD libraries, Rorke Data will incorporate the libraries into custom-designed, fibre-channel storage systems and complete SAN (storage area network) solutions for digital audio/video, publishing, medical imaging, and IT markets. Known worldwide for providing comprehensive systems integration, training, maintenance and support, Rorke Data is offering the ASACA Digital Virtual Libraries (DVLs) at its facilities throughout the U.S. and Europe.
The ASACA TeraCart libraries are the world's highest-density, random-access storage solution and can be configured with 1 to 192 DVD-RAM drives and up to 11,600 double-sided 9.4GB rewritable DVD discs for capacities ranging from 2.3TB to more than 109TB. Up to eight libraries can be connected using pass-through and infrared communications.
In addition to being able to read from and write to DVD-RAM media, the libraries can read DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, and CD audio media. While other DVD storage libraries provide broad media interchangeability, only the ASACA product is capable of acting as four separate libraries within a single cabinet -- each with different media. Also unique to ASACA DVLs is the innovative robotics head that flips for fast access to both sides of 9.4GB DVD-RAM media
